Big Momma CD Review, Ravenscroft “Rebel”

I am reviewing the CD by Ravenscroft ,”Rebel”. This review is in follow-up to an interview with Laurie Whitaker , the president and founder Ravenscroft Rebels fan club. Social media makes it possible for a woman who lives all the way in Tennessee to be the biggest supporter of one of our favorite local bands. I was blessed recently , to not only meet Laurie, but to see Ravenscroft live at the Slide bar in Fullerton.  Although the bass player Devin Baker and I have known each other since high school,  I was out of the music scene for several years and lost touch. Now that I’m back and have been turned on to Ravenscroft again, I feel like I missed out on so much! I definitely have to go back and listen to all their previous albums now because this one absolutely kicks ass. This 5 song EP is as powerful  as metal gets.  Ralph Buso’s voice…strong, steady and just plain perfect for metal,  leads an amazing band! Devin Baker thumping  on that bass, Pat McGrath pounding the drums, makes for a very tight rhythm section… all the perfect  backdrop for Brett Gorke to wail out some very nice lead guitar!!  Hardcore yet melodic this album  definitely  gets its point across.  It’s point? To bring some kickass music.. and that they do!! They are awesome live,  energetic and engaging! Of course , it will be different for everyone. The beauty of music is that  everyone interprets it differently and it touches each individual’s soul a different way. The one song on this album that touches my soul is “Jaded”. For me,  the “she”  in this song is life. I highly suggest you go to the Ravenscroft website and check it out for yourself.  What is your favorite Ravenscroft song?

What’s Playing in Your Car? – Big Momma’s CDs, Part 1

I have loved The Doctors of the Earth CD, Respect the Laws, since I first heard it.  I honestly can’t remember when it was but it was one of the jewels amongst the stacks of Cds that the promoters for The House of Metal and DJs, Mike and Ed brought over. Right off the bat i was blown away by Track 1, the hard hitting, haunting, Mama Hey; my personal favorite and now officially my theme song. I was recently blessed to not only meet these talented, wonderful guys ( when interviewed at the C4oc Radio Compound)… but I also scored a signed copy of the CD!! Powerful vocals, shredding guitar and an absolutely thumping  rhythm section, they kick ass ! That is why they get my first spot on “Who’s Playing in your Car?” Check them out and once again, hear for yourselves… I have never been disappointed , I bet you won’t be either!!!

I have seen lots of bands in my travels around the Orange County scene. I always love when on my playlist , a certain local band comes on. I always know who it is by the first note. With their heavy melodic bass lines, thumping driving drum style and face melting, shredding guitar riffs. and then I hear that amazing vocals, Augie!! Gets me everytime. The band I speak of is the one and only “AUGMENTED CHAOS”.  This band is the true Metal sound and lets you know it! With an original set of songs and material, Augmented Chaos brings the live performance everytime. Back in 2017, i saw them at the Whisky A Go Go, they were phenomenal, every song was flawless!  Very professional.  Another time I saw them here a at the C4OCradio  compound studios, they blew the roof off the place. With Augie Madrigal on Vocals and bass, Dave Manker on drums, and J Patrick McCosar on guitar, they are “Augmented Chaos”. They are a must listen and, a must see live performance. Check them out.
